The City of Tacoma Animal Care & Control Officers enforce ordinances in the cities of Tacoma, Fircrest, and Ruston: Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. Animal Control responds to Animal emergencies 24 hours a day. To file an animal complaint dial 253-627-PETS (7387) press 2 for Animal Control.

License your new pet(s) on-line-For your convenience, If you've adopted a new pet, save time and apply for a license online! Please visit our New Pet License Application page to get started. Your pet's permanent ID tag will be mailed to you within 3-5 business days.
Renew your pet's license online! -For your convenience, you can now renew your pet(s) license online using your Visa or MasterCard. Please visit our online renewal page to get started!
Animal Care & Control recently mailed you a postcard letting you know you can "Go Paperless".
This is not a bill and is optional, if you would like to have your your pet license renewals sent directly to your email, please send us your email address and we will add it to your account.
Click the "Go Paperless" button to update your email address. If you do not use Microsoft Outlook Email go directly to your email account (Comcast, Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail etc) and send an email to paperless@cityoftacoma.org

City of Tacoma Animal Care & Control Officers do not handle wild animals. Coyotes, opossums, and raccoons are just some of the many wildlife becoming more visible now that we are building structures in their natural habitat. If you encounter one of these wild animals please visit one of the links above to learn more about the animal and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife's management methods, including the phone number for the Coastal Washington Office, which includes Pierce County. If you find a wild animal that you suspect may be injured, please contact the PAWS Wildlife Center at 425-787-2500 ext. 817.
The Sarvey Wildlife Center is also available for assistance in the event that you find an injured wild animal. Their phone number is 360-435-4817. Please visit their website to see if they can assist you.
